Salvage crews continue to remove wreckage from the Francis Scott Key Bridge

Salvage crews continue work clearing the wreckage of the Francis Scott Key Bridge from the Patapsco River in Baltimore Maryland on April 21, 2024. Debris and wreckage removal is ongoing in support of a top priority to safely and efficiently open the Fort McHenry channel. The Key Bridge Response 2024 Unified Command priorities are to ensure the safety of the public and first responders, account for missing persons, safely restore transportation infrastructure and commerce, protect the environment, and support the investigation of the incident

The crew uses these buoys to mark a new limited access deep draft channel scheduled to open later this week for commercially essential vessels during the Key Bridge. The Key Bridge Response 2024 unified command priorities are to ensure the safety of the public and first responders, account for missing persons, safely restore transportation infrastructure and commerce, protect the environment, and support the investigation of the incident.

the progress made to remove wreckage and debris from the Patapsco river, April 23, 2024, which has facilitated three temporary alternate channels and another one scheduled to be established later this week. The Unified Command is continuing efforts to remove the M/V Dali, which is required to fully re-open the Fort McHenry Channel.
