The Hong Kong government has announced a major reclamation project as part of an effort to increase the city’s land supply. It includes building artificial islands in the Central Waters area east of Lantau Island. But some fishermen in Peng Chau, one of the islands in the affected area, said the reclamation could destroy the best fishing ground of Hong Kong and put them out of work.
