How do you categorize YouTube videos in 2024? How do you describe content genres when the genres are constantly changing and evolving, even over relatively short periods of time? I did not expect such a basic question to cause me to spiral so much. But I happen to have written an academic essay analyzing the so-called "Gameplay Commentary" genre back in college... so I nerded out a bit.
