Avalanche happens at 8:05 for those of you impatient folks - no need to thumbs down.

VLOG #6 Last Sunday, while touring in the Utah Backcountry I was caught in a soft slab avalanche with a few friends. Luckily, this was soft snow from the recent new snow, and only carried us 50-75 yards down the slope, and we were able to access to real danger. Afterwards we took the apron to a safe zone, and called it a day. The snowpack is ever changing, make sure to be safe, make good decisions, and always bring beacons, probes, shovels and the correct information in case of emergency.

To get help in an emergency (to request a rescue) in the Wasatch, call 911. Be prepared to give your GPS coordinates or the run name. Dispatchers have a copy of the Wasatch Backcountry Ski map.

Backcountry Emergencies. It outlines your step-by-step method in the event of a winter backcountry incident.

If you trigger an avalanche in the backcountry, but no one is hurt and you do not need assistance, please notify the nearest ski area dispatch to avoid a needless response by rescue teams. Thanks.
