Top 8 Amazing Features Of The 2024 VW Tiguan!

On 19th September 2023, Volkswagen rolled out the red carpet for the 2024 Tiguan. With over 7.6 million owners to date, this compact SUV is gearing up to hit dealerships as early as the first quarter of 2024. So, let’s take a look at the top 8 amazing features that make me want the new Tiguan!

A familiar yet fresh face

In terms of exterior, the 2024 Tiguan will feature slimmer headlights, with a glass-covered horizontal strip, a broad lower grille and a rear lighting strip that stretches across the full width of the car. It’s really hard to miss some resemblances with the recently unveiled 2024 Passat estate, the Mk8 Golf or the ID.4 EV. What do you say?
The regular models flaunt three horizontal chrome bars on the lower grille, but if you’re eyeing something spicier, the sporty R-Line models will come with a diamond-pattern mesh, presenting a fiercer face and an extra dash of attitude.
Overall, the new Tiguan echoes a more muscular stance, subtly nodding to its big brother, the Touareg. However, don’t be fooled. The Tiguan hasn’t bulked up in size. In fact, it will ride on VW’s modern MQB Evo platform, shared with the Golf, Passat, and Audi A3.
However, VW has thrown in a small yet sweet addition of 30mm in length (does that mean more legroom?), and the trunk space is bumped up by 37 liters, totaling a handy 652 liters. A subtle yet thoughtful extension, indeed.
IQ.Light HD matrix headlights
Well, the name’s quite a mouthful, but they’re the latest installment in Volksgwagen’s headlights technology.
HD is short for High Definition, signifying a high-resolution output from light sources. For the Tiguan, the term takes on a tangible brilliance. With a staggering total of 38,400 multipixel LEDs (that’s 19,200 multipixel LEDs per headlight), the Tiguan casts a new spectrum of light on the path ahead. It should transform nighttime driving into a clearer, safer venture.
Moreover, VW claims that the new design of the highlights has improved the drag coefficient of the car from 0.33 to 0.28. That sounds good also.
New infotainment system
The 2024 Tiguan’s interior embraces a significant transformation, trading the former mid-2010s dashboard layout for a modern, expansive tablet touchscreen. Yes, it’s big, with display options of either 12.9 or 15 inches, struggling to compensate for the absence of hard keys. By the way, are you a fan of the old classic buttons in cars or you’d rather have touchscreen everywhere? Let us know in the comments down below.
VW has tried to get the best of both worlds, housing physical buttons on the steering wheel and a right-hand stalk gear shifter to eliberate console space for essentials such as phones or wallets.
All in all, Volkswagen has curated a more intuitive user interface, shining the spotlight on its latest MIB4 infotainment system.
Now there’s a permanent climate control bar on the panel and up to five customizable on-screen shortcut buttons at the top for easy toggling between functions. You might feel familiar with them if you’ve interacted with the ID.4, ID.5, ID.7 models before.
We should also mention the elegant new rotary controller nestled in the center console, featuring an in-built OLED display. This can be used to control the music volume, driving profiles and the background ambient lighting colors.
Engaging virtual cockpit
The digital dash panel is a standard 10.25-inch display across all 2024 Tiguan variants. It offers four distinct driving views for a tailored driving experience, based around Audi’s Digital Cockpit setup.
There’s also a new head-up display projecting vital driving data directly onto the windscreen. According to the German company, the digital instruments on the Tiguan are covered in anti-reflective coating. Or is that just marketing? Time will tell.
Lastly, VW introduces the IDA voice assistant to enhance your interaction with the infotainment system. Though the specifics on its functionality remain a bit unclear, the natural language processing promises a seamless and engaging user experience.
Ventilated seats that activate automatically
In terms of comfort, the new Volkswagen Tiguan comes with plenty of features to suit your every need and whim. Front seats receive a noticeable upgrade. Called ergoActive seats, they come equipped with a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure massage function, aimed at enhancing comfort during long drives.
Expanding on seating comfort, the Tiguan also offers ergoActive Plus seats. These seats boast pneumatic four-way lumbar adjustment and a programming function that enables automatic activation of seat heating or ventilation corresponding to certain outside temperatures.
