Fodders shrubs provide smallscale farmers with ready supplemental feeds that contain protein. By planting fodder farmers are able to increase milk yields per cow, improve soil fertility and saves money by reducing purchase of commercial concentrates hence leading to greater incomes. Farmers require 400-500 fodder trees per cow to feed one dairy cow sustainably whole year round. Examples of fodder shrubs include: Calliandra, Sesbania, Gliricidia, Leuceana among others.
