Welcome back to another video TheThings Fans! Today we’re talking all things movie magic.

What comes to mind when you hear the term movie magic? For most people, it’s probably the special effects also known as CGI work that goes into a film in its editing stages. Well - that’s not always the case.

There are plenty of films that opt to use practical effects instead to bring a whole other level of realism into the game - and that’s what we’ll be exploring in this video.

Whether it’s through stunts, camera techniques, or even just some simple fishing string these practical effects go a long way. After you see some of these films behind the scenes footage, you won’t be able to look at these iconic scenes the same way again.

We’ll be showing you examples from huge blockbuster hits like Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, Mary Poppins Returns, and even Iron Man.

Remember Rey’s instant bread from Star Wars the Force Awakens? That was an actual concoction the production team work three months on. But - sometimes these practical effects aren’t as safe as instant bread and involve things like skydiving and wall-scaling to get the desired effect - but it’s always worth it in the end.
