This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2023 Genesis G80 electric full-size luxury sedan. The Genesis G80 Electric has a dual 136 kW electric motor, 365 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It gets 454 km/282 miles of EV range, standard AWD and has an 87.2 kWh battery. It is not built on a dedicated EV platform; it shares its underpinnings with the Genesis G80 gas model. The electrified G80 does feature an 800-volt electrical architecture enabling ultra-fast charging rates. With a Level 2 charger this Genesis G80 Electrified can charge in less than 7.5 hours and with a 350 kW DC Fast Charger, it can charge from 10-80% in just over 21 minutes. The G80 has a vehicle to load function (V2L) which is basically a charger on wheels, it can power small appliances, devices and even charge other EVs or electric bicycles. There is just one Genesis G80 Electrified trim available for $105,000 CAD/$79,825 USD and it comes loaded. It has a striking exterior design with a G-Matrix patterned crest grille, chrome exterior accents, full LED Quad headlights, LED taillights, power folding exterior mirrors, a hidden charging door at the front and 19” wheels. The interior of the Genesis G80 is elegant, and the quality of materials used are beautiful, something we have come to expect from Genesis. Our test model has a two tone-colour combo, dark green and glacier white Nappa leather upholstery with green piping, dark floor mats, a patterned trim and a dial shifter. The electric Genesis G80 comes standard with a heat pump and battery heater, a 14.5” touchscreen with navigation which can also be controlled with the centre console dial, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 12.3” digital driver display, wireless charger, surround view monitor, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system and a power trunk lid. Genesis offers an excellent warranty of 5 years or 100,000 km/60,000 miles. In Canada, you get 5 years free scheduled maintenance, in the US, 3 years or 36,000 miles. Genesis at Home services in Canada is offered to customers within a 50 km radius of a distributor.
