Kohler valve adjustment on V-Twin. Step by step instructions. Courage/7000 engines and others.
Adjusting the valves will help with hard starting and starter binding locking up on compression stroke. Adjusting valves should be part of normal maintenance. Kohler Courage engine and others with similar style rockers. Valve clearances are the small gaps between the tops of the valve stems and the part of the mechanism which presses on them to open the valves . Check the clearances at regular intervals.

Tips;
Always adjust valves on a cold engine.
Shake the rocker arm back and forth to make sure its square to the valve.
Put a little motor oil on the feeler gauge.
When you think your done, re-check every valve.
Sometimes when the locknut or set screw is tightened it will slightly change the clearance.
