šŸŒŸ Reflecting on a Magical Maldives Experience at the The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands šŸŒŸ

Elicia Orsbourn and I just returned from a dream vacation in the Maldives, a place where the word 'hashtag#hospitality' took on a new depth of meaning.

I want to share key thoughts from our trip, relevant to service industries everywhere, starting with why hashtag#NamesMatter.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Lana (pictured) from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., who asked us how we preferred to be addressed, ensuring a personal touch that resonated throughout our stay from every team member that met us from that point forwards. This simple act of every team member who met us following our first engagement with Lana, used our names consistently, in a fashion of our choosing. This elevated our experience, proving that personal connections elevate service.

In the restaurant industry, this principle holds. hashtag#Namebadges for team members may seem trivial, yet they can bridge connections, fostering a bond between guests and servers. When team members introduce themselves to guests, especially those who have made reservations, it offers the opportunity to break barriers and personalize the experience.

It's reciprocal too of course. During our stay, Elicia and I made it a point to learn the names and stories of the staff, reflecting the respect we value in professional and personal interactions.

Remember, even in fast-paced environments like a McDonald's drive-thru, acknowledging a customer by name can sprinkle the interaction with hospitality.
In this era of data-rich operations, leveraging technology to prompt service providers with guest names at the start of a transaction can revolutionize the customer experience. It's an opportunity to showcase digital hospitality, making guests feel seen and valued from the very first moment.
