This is an independent video review of the DOL-Fin Orca Mk2 monofoil fin produced by Smith Aerospace (www.smithaerospace.us).

I have used the original DOL-Fin Orca ('Mark 1') fin for 3 years so I was in a great position to evaluate the new fin. I have also done what I think was the deepest official dive with the original Orca (77.9m at Vertical Blue 2011).

The Orca Mk2 is a major improvement over the original, primarily due to better streamlining, intrinsic incompressible buoyancy, improved foot strap system and power transfer, and an overall increase in thrust and power.

I have done 60m (200ft) recreational freedives with a 7.5mm suit with the original Orca, and I expect this to increase to 65-70m with the Orca Mk2. With a thin suit, a world record in constant weight is definitely possible.

Unlike ordinary monofins, the Orca Mk2 automatically adjusts to different thickness socks so you can dive in warm or cold water. It collapses into a suitcase, and is nearly indestructible. I can't recommend it enough.

I was the first diver to set a world depth record with a monofin (2001), and since I started using the DOL-Fin Orca (in 2011), I have never used any of my monofins again. Why would I?
