Afro-Colombian women who work as clam harvesters along the country’s Pacific coast are known as piangueras. Overexploitation and deforestation threatened not only their livelihoods, but their way of life. Through Conservación Internacional Colombia’s EcoGourmet program, the piangueras are working to reverse this trend.
