McLaren 765LT. Derived from the 720S, it is more powerful than 45 HP, lighter than 80 kg and has a specific aerodynamics. It will be built in 765 copies. #McLaren #McLaren765LT #765LT

Lighter, more powerful, even more engaging - and uniquely McLaren: the new 765LT is revealed. Lighter, more powerful and with even higher levels of performance on both road and track, the McLaren 765LT is today revealed as the latest in a line of ‘Longtail’ McLarens and the most dynamically advanced and engaging LT model ever from McLaren Automotive.

Making its global debut, the 765LT opens a new chapter in the ‘Longtail’ story that began with the McLaren F1 GTR race car in the 1990s and since 2015 has seen road-legal LT models introduced. The new car elevates to new levels the attributes that underpin every LT: driver engagement, track-focused dynamics, minimized weight, optimized aerodynamics and increased power are all amplified, particularly the first two. The LT promise of being ‘limited to the few’ is also fulfilled, with just 765 individually numbered cars available globally for customer order.

Advanced carbon fibre technologies and bespoke carbon fibre LT body panels and aerodynamic features are key to an 176lbs (DIN) weight reduction over the 720S. Together with power of 755bhp and torque of 590lb ft from the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged McLaren V8 engine, transmission gearing optimized for scintillating in-gear acceleration and LT-specific suspension springs and dampers, this is the basis for the wholly immersive driving experience the new 765LT delivers.

With the abbreviation LT, short for Long Tail, McLaren indicates the most extreme versions of some of its road models. The latest in this series is the McLaren 765LT, which derives from the 720S but has been optimized to give the best on the track, where it can rely on the renewed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine: it has specific forged aluminum pistons, a revised oil pump and an unprecedented control electronics.

The result of these changes are the power of 765 HP at 7,500 rpm and the torque of 800 Nm at 5,500 rpm, compared to the 720S and 770 Nm of the 720S. Transferring the torque to the rear wheels is the task of the 7-speed double clutch robotic transmission, modified to give the best in the sprint at the start, so much so that the 765LT completes the trip from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and goes from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.2 seconds (the maximum speed is 330 km / h). Numbers to make the rival Ferrari 488 Pista pale.

McLaren has paid no less attention to the electronic part, so much so that the 765LT is equipped with a system that collects driving data on the track (the driver can subsequently analyze and find out where to improve) and three driving modes, from the road Comfort to the more Sport and Track slopes. The gearbox is also equipped with the Limit Downshift function, which helps the driver in the "braking" on the limit.
