Today we look at a strange and mystical device brought to us by the people from Makers Cabinet. The Høvel pencil plane presents an alternative way to sharpen pencils, which at first glance seems like an interesting and exciting new idea, especially when the tool is fashioned from gleaming solid brass. However, after a closer look and an hour of struggling fruitlessly with it, one can easily come to the realization that a pencil sharpening renaissance isn't something we need, at least not for $61 plus shipping.
