Robert Pattinson was a lot of things before he became Batman. He was a vampire and a wizard, but you already knew about that, didn’t you? His two most famous roles tend to act like a vacuum for the rest of his career. You hardly remember ever seeing him in anything else. We’re willing to bet you don’t even remember him as a cowboy, a market analysis, a LIFE photographer, or even a loser with a guitar. Yes, those are real roles he did in real movies.

Pattinson turned himself into an indie darling while you weren’t looking. Now he’s primed and ready to take back center stage with his performance as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman film. We’re excited about that, but too many of his other roles have been forgotten. Did you know he played T.E. Lawrence in Queen of the Desert and a space gardener in High Life? That’s without mentioning the often-overlooked spots in Water for Elephants and Little Ashes. The man simply elevates every character he’s given.

We like to call actors like these blenders. They blend so well you frequently forget they’re in certain movies. Gary Oldman is an excellent example of this kind of actor. Pattinson does this in a bunch of films like The Roller and Map to the Stars. You just need to check this list out to see exactly what we’re talking about here!
