So, Nico Hulkenberg to Sauber probably wasn’t on your silly season bingo card. To be clear, this isn’t a Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber signing, this is a decision that had come from soon to be team owners Audi.
Signing a contract this early in the season means that this move has been in the works for a while now and isn’t Audi getting the best they could, they have signed a driver they really wanted.
When we posted our news video breaking Hulk’s move to Audi, the comments were a real mixed bag. Some people loved the move, but some people called him old, washed up, and a waste of an F1 seat, and that second group were wrong.
That might surprise you, but this is the perfect move for Audi to set themselves up to succeed from day one.
