Here's weekly dose of your catastrophic engine forensics! Every week you can find a new teardown of some abused, misused and/or poorly designed engine. I've got over 150 videos of failed engine teardowns on this channel.
Today we have a bad 2.8L LWN 4 cylinder Duramax found in the Colorado and Canyon. These engines seem to be pretty stout and make a ton of torque for their size. This was a pretty tough core to find because they are VERY pricey, and usually get sold as soon as they become available. Thankfully, I was at the right place at the right time and now we have one on the channel! Unfortunately I do not have any details on this engine. I don't know the miles, or why it was replaced. The latter part we find out as we tear it down!
Why am I doing this? I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart. Part of our model includes dismantling blown up and core engines to salvage the good parts for resale. We do not rebuild engines, we merely sell parts to those who do!
