This was recorded prior to Ford and GM's announcement to adopt Tesla's NACS plug, but the points I was making here appear to withstood the test of time. Now, Ford and GM's motivations for adopting Tesla's standard seem to be very different, and I'll dive into in more detail in a future video.

In the wake of those announcements, I've seen story after story about how CCS is dead and Tesla is going to dominate the charging infrastructure with their new standard, but most of those statements are coming from people who have rarely if ever used the CCS charging infrastructure to travel, never charged a non-Tesla EV on a Supercharger, or both. We're already seeing honest voices in the community, such as @AAutoBuyersGuide and @plugandplayEV raise red flags about issues attempting to charge non-Tesla EVs on the Tesla Superchargers, and those issues are only going to increase as non-Tesla EV owners start to gain more access to the Superchargers.

Worse still, simply adopting Tesla's standard, as Ford and GM plan to do, doesn't address many of those issues. The 12,000 Superchargers that Ford and GM expect to gain access to in the next few years are largely worthless for the average non-Tesla EV drivers because they don't improve charging speeds, convenience, cost, or coverage. If and when Tesla finally starts building 1000 V architecture V4 Superchargers, they can try to catch up to the CCS charging infrastructure, but for right now, they are way behind.
