For the countdown from 2012 to 2013, Tokyo Disney Resort launched a resort-wide NYE firework show replacing the previous year’s underwhelming event. This new show was also part of the resort’s 30th anniversary. This show consists of guests joining together in singing “Auld Lang Syne” in Japanese before counting down to the new year. Since it’s debut, this New Year’s countdown firework show has been running yearly. In the countdown from 2018 to 2019, the show’s opening was re-recorded to include the 35th anniversary theme song of the resort “Brand New Day,” but it was changed to the original soundtrack the following year.

Fun Facts:

This is technically the longest firework show to preform at the resort since most of their firework shows last for 4 minutes. This show lasts about 5 to 6 minutes and uses a lot of fireworks than regular shows.

Paying homage to the former big celebrations that the park’s used to throw, in the hour leading to the new year, each park plays a special mix of songs from various seasonal shows.

Unlike the other Disney Parks around the world, Tokyo Disney Resort has always started the countdown from 20 instead of 10.
