This is the story of the Irish Devereux brothers who fought against the cruel authority of British power in 19th century Ireland, but were ultimately forced to emigrate. Three of them came to Utica, NY and became successful businessmen. But their militant brother Walter left Ireland for Martinique, and was never heard from again. There was no word in 19th century Irish for "immigrant." The Irish word was "exile."
