What is the speed limit in residential area Australia? Will you fail your driving test for going to slow?

In this video, I provide answers to these very common questions by students. In Australia, if there is no speed limit sign displayed in built up (residential) areas, the default speed limit is 50km/hr.

But what does that really mean? Do you need to drive 50km/hr or you fail your driving test? No, not at all. In residential areas where there are no speed limit signs, you must not drive faster than 50km/hr.

That's the maximum speed limit that you can have. If you drive faster than 50km/hr, that's when you fail the driving test.

When should you slow down when driving? You need to slow down in many traffic situations and conditions in built up areas in Australia. What are those situations? Watch the video to find out.

How slow is too slow for a driving test in Australia? It really depends on the traffic situation. There is no specific answer to that. Driving too slow unnecessarily can result in a fail on the driving test in Australia.

Watch this video to find out all about speed limit in residential areas in Australia, situations where you need to slow down and some strategies for improving your speed judgement before trying the driving test.
