Every automaker out there is on the run to make the best cars in various categories by upgrading them and ensuring they all have the latest tech. Many cars have been redesigned, remodelled, and some even made completely different. The most common trend right now is the addition of an electric powertrain to the common gas powertrain, making the car a hybrid. Mercedes has not been left behind, and they have decided to finally upgrade their line-up. But what have they done?

And with that, let’s find out what Mercedes has done.
Mercedes-Benz has decided not to waste any time in updating its line-up, and this is after the recently redesigned C-Class sedan. It is being followed up with the new-generation 2023 GLC SUV, which has been given evolutionary styling but major updates on the powertrain and tech fronts. Just like the C-Class, the new GLC has been given some major upgrades. For starters, it rides on Mercedes’ MRA II architecture, which also underpins the S-Class and most other upcoming gas-powered models.
When it comes to the design front, even though the first-gen GLC is very different from the GLK, the second generation of the GLC is more of an evolutionary departure. With that said, the body panels are new, and it now has a longer wheelbase and a lower stance. This is to differentiate it from the Mercedes GLB.
The next generation Mercedes GLC has some sleek production headlamps that are more angular. They slant upward like on the Mercedes EQS but are not as narrow at the outer ends. They then connect to the radiator grille through a DRL strip at the upper edge, emphasizing the SUV’s width. The new radiator grille has chrome surrounds and a sporty louvre in matt grey with chrome trim.
From the side, the 2023 Mercedes GLC does not look that different from the previous generation. However, the rising beltline does give it a slightly sportier style. In addition to that, for the first time on a GLC, there are body-coloured wheel arch liners with AMG Line.
When you look at the rear, the 2023 Mercedes GLC has a sleeker appearance with slimmer, two-part tail lamps reminiscent of the C-Class.
One of the 2023 Mercedes GLC's main exterior features is Digital Light headlamps with projection functions. These headlamps are said to have three extremely powerful LEDs each. There are 1.3 million micro-mirrors that refract and direct the light in each Digital Light headlamp, giving them a total resolution of more than 2.6 million pixels. These headlamps are a premium option to the standard LED headlamps. A customer can specify and get an additional option of projection functions that cast guidelines or warning symbols on the road ahead.
In addition to all that, the new GLC comes with the second-generation MBUX, which has a fingerprint scanner and a more interactive voice assistant that is activated by the command, "Hey Mercedes." Not only that, but MBUX Smart Home functionality is also included in the new-generation MBUX. This allows the driver to check on and control some of the smart home devices installed at their residence.
The 2023 Mercedes GLC comes standard with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait display. The portrait orientation of the centre display makes it easier to operate the infotainment functions.
There are a lot of new features in the 2023 Mercedes GLC, but one of the most striking ones is the rear-axle steering.
Speaking of safety, there are a lot of active and passive safety features that have been added to the 2023 Mercedes GLC. There are a lot of new, upgraded, and carried-over technologies that make the 2023 GLC the safest C-Class-based SUV.
The 2023 GLC has been meticulously designed for a hybrid drive and sets the standard for efficiency.
There are a lot of new and amazing features to love about the 2023 Mercedes GLC. All these features have definitely made it stand out. The official US launch of the 2023 Mercedes GLC is somewhere in the first half of 2023.
