Hey, everybody. Dusten Huebner here from Electrician Information Resource. So chances are you landed on this video because you're wondering "Do electricians make good money?" and in this video I want to talk about that. So stay tuned.

So yeah, you guys are wondering "Do electricians make good money?". This is another big question to answer because there are so many variables. So the main thing is what industry do you work in or would you like to work in, because that is going to change your wage drastically. If you work in the residential industry, I would say that's probably the lowest earning potential, but it all depends.

How much do you want to work? Do you want to work every day 8 hours a day or do you want to work every day 15 hours a day? So it all depends there. It depends on if you get overtime. That would be a big earning potential difference there. What else? If you run your own van in the residential, let's say, and that's your own van, well you can make money there. So that would boost your income.

If you work in the commercial sector, you can make a different wage there. You might make a little bit more of a base hourly rate because you're dealing with higher voltage equipment, bigger style equipment and stuff like that. So your wage will be up there.

And then for me personally, I'm an industrial electrician. I have my own company. I get hired directly by the customer. I can charge out my certain tools and specialty tools I have, like a Megger meter and stuff like that. Another thing is I have got my truck. So I have a customer that pays me for my truck. So I make money there. And the overtime is all over the place. I can make a ton of money one month and no money the next month.

So it all depends on what you're doing. Like I said, what industry you work in. What you're doing in that industry, how long you work... so it's completely up to you.
