It's been 2 years since we flew a long-haul flight, and we are doing it in First-Class with Lufthansa. We are on our honeymoon/babymoon to USA, but we have a layover in Boston before we are traveling to our first stop, Washington DC to see cherry blossom.

Since the First-Class lounge in Terminal 2-Satellite at Munich Airport was closed we had to use the First-Class Lounge in Terminal 2. We ate breakfast at the Ala-cart restaurant and tried the jacuzzi. Since the Terminal 2-Satellite was closed they didn’t offer transport to the plane, so we had to walked to the gate, but we didn’t mind that, and we had an amazing time at the lounge.

Our flew the Airbus A340-600 and it was returned to service just a couple a weeks ago. As we were boarding the purser showed us our seats. Lufthansa’s A340 first class cabin consists of a total of eight seats, in a 1-2-1 configuration. Since the seats in the back was unoccupied, we could use the whole back area. As soon we got to our seats we received amenity kit, pajamas and pre-departure beverage with nuts.

The whole trip took about 8h and 25min, we enjoyed every single minute on this trip. The food was delicious, and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. The seats are not very private, but since we had the entire back row for us self it felt kind of private.

How did we managed to book a ticket that cost 7000 € per person? We redeemed an award ticket with a companion ticket, in total we spent 87 500 Eurobonus for this trip. It is a bit tricky to book Lufthansa First class award redemptions since they have only been available 14 days in advance, making it a little difficult to plan trips with them.
