3D printers can utilize CFR to add continuous fiber reinforcement to FFF products. A CFR-capable machine employs two extrusion systems: one for long-strand continuous fibers and the other for standard FFF filament. In place of FFF infill, continuous fibers are placed down in layers. The resulting pieces can take the place of aluminum parts in applications because of their high strength (up to 10 times stronger than any FFF material).
