SPACs have been labelled 'monkey business and financial deceit'; Reid Hoffman from Greylock Ventures called them in 2020 'Venture capital at scale'.
We can certainly show that the SPAC space has exploded in the last 2 years.
Before we explore whether those structures have lived up to investors' expectations - both institutional & retail - it helps to get the fundamentals right.

In this lecture, I will explain the basic structure of a SPACs or Special Purpose Acquisition Company, at times also referred to as 'empty shell companies'.
