On October 28, 2021, Helga Davis, the Gardner's Visiting Curator of the Performing Arts, convened an intimate evening of music, poetry, and fashion inspired by questions posed in "Titian: Women, Myth & Power." This remarkable event included Helga’s recitation of a new poem by Claudia Rankine, celebrated author of poetry and plays, co-founder of The Racial Imaginary Institute, and Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry at Yale University.

The 2021 poem “Among the Undresses after Hortense Spillers” was conceived, in Rankine’s words, “as a collision between Titian’s painting Diana and Acteon and the essay by Hortense J. Spillers entitled 'Interstices: A Small Drama of Words.'”
