Figures suggest that three-quarters of employers use some kind of flexible contract to keep costs down.

But they can lead to lower wages, smaller pensions and less protection for workers.

Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner has called for workers' rights to be reformed and the Party has pledged to outlaw zero-hours contracts within 100 days of gaining power if they win the next election.
