Mulch spreading and plant pruning tips:

▪ Prune and pull weeds before edging your mulch beds - you don't want the dirt from the edging mixing with these because it will make removing them much more difficult.
▪ Use a string trimmer to outline where you will cut in your bed edge - this ensures your edge is exactly where you want it to be and flows nicely.
▪ Apply 'pre-emergent' herbicide - Preen is the most common brand. These weed control products help prevent future weeds from emerging from the soil.
