Firstly, the unit is larger than it looks like in the pictures. I'm glad I got this one over a larger unit for my condo. I live in the SF Bay Area and my condo is a top floor unit, with vaulted ceilings and no air conditioning-it's almost like an attic in the Summer.

This thing really works! I use it any time the room get's over 80 degrees (I have a digital thermometer and humidity sensor on the wall). The Hessaire should be considered a space cooler more than a room cooler however as you can mostly feel it when its pointed in your direction and you have to have a door or window open while using it otherwise the room will get too humid. It doesn't have to be a door or window to outside though, it can be open to another room although I typically will open a window at least a jar, to help with excess humidity in the room while the Hessaire is on. You have to let some of the humidity it creates out of the room or it will start not working as well and also your room will also feel too humid. Think of it as a cool or cold breeze passing through.

Just take note that with an evaporative cooler, it's going to be YMMV; results can vary from totally amazing in very hot dry environments, to, no better than just a fan alone in cooler or more humid environments.

This works well outside on the patio too! You can hang out outside even on a hot day and be comfortable.

I find this a bit loud inside, even at the low setting. Don't plan on being able to listen to music or watch TV with it on, unless it's across the room. Noise cancelling headphones help a lot. I do wish there was a 3rd slower speed. It also makes a water trickling sound in addition to the fan and the pump, although sort of like a small waterfall, that can be relaxing.

Also realize the bit of commitment needed owning one of these; you have to drain the water out if it is not used up in 4 days, or it will get stagnant. Same if you are going to store it, empty the water, run it dry without the water pump on for at least 30 minutes so that you are not putting it away wet (which could lead to mold/mildew). You should also clean it periodically inside too. All a small price to pay for being comfortable, especially while working all day at home or in the garage. I've suffered too many over-hot days sweating and uncomfortable and now those days are over!

This stores easily in a closet when I need to put it away for the winter, just drain it, run it on fan only for 30 minutes to make sure it's completely dry before storing as per above. The wheels also make it easy to move from room to room although note it gets very heavy when filled with water. When empty, it's quite light.
