China debuted its digital yuan to foreign visitors and athletes at the Beijing Winter Olympics. The e-CNY is a centralized, cash-like digital currency that will mostly be used for retail payments. The electronic yuan is one of the only so-called central bank digital currencies offered by a major economy. Bloomberg’s Kurumi Mori reports from inside the Olympics bubble in Beijing.
