Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) for our first picnic! Budae jjiage is the ultimate comfort food in Korea but it was born out of the Korean war, made from food waste smuggled out of the US amry base in Korea. Hense the interesting combination of Korean and American ingredients. It has a sad history but is also a reminder of our resilience and hardwork that enabled us to rebuild the country in a remarkably short time.
For some reason, we were expecting trees full of leaves but spring hasn't fully come yet and it was quite chilly. But budae jjigae definitely warmed our body and soul.
