This presentation discussed the need for grid-forming inverters in future power systems and explains why this is the most critical topic to address to achieve 100% clean energy goals. The presentation sets the context for clean energy grids, discusses why grid-forming inverters are important, and highlights the start of a new Universal Interoperability for Grid-forming Inverters (UNIFI) Consortium that aims to unify the operation of synchronous machines and inverter-based resources in large power systems.
