This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2022 Kia Carnival van. Kia has used a lot of styling cues from SUV and integrated them into this 7 or 8-passenger people mover. The large grill and chunky proportions blurs the lines between a minivan and mid-size SUV. In fact, Kia calls this an MPV. Powering this new 2022 Kia Carnival is a new 3.5L V6 engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission, 290 horsepower and 262 lb=ft of torque. It comes with FWD. This new minivan has a longer wheelbase than outgoing Sedona and this is a bit wider, but length is the same. Some standard features include, 8-passenger seating, 7-passenger in the US, LED positioning lights, silver painted grille, black grille insert, temporary spare tire, 17” wheels, 19” wheels are available on the top three trims. It comes standard with plenty of active safety features like, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, driver attention warning, forward collision warning, rear parking sensors, rear occupant alert and 7 airbags. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are standard on the middle EX trim in Canada. But, are standard on the base model in the US. As for fuel economy, the Carnival FWD gets 12L/100km city and 8.9L/100km highway. That’s 19 MPG city and 26 MPG highway. Competition to the Carnival includes, the Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, Toyota Sienna Hybrid and the Pacifica Hybrid.
