Early this morning Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger cars for FCA North America introduced the new 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat widebody and Scat Pack widebody. In a surprise move, all 2020 Charger Hellcats will be widebody cars with the narrow body Charger Hellcat going away for 2020.

The 2020 Charger Hellcat widebody will carry on with 707 horsepower and 650-pound feet of torque, surprisingly not getting the 10 horsepower bump to 717 horsepower to match the Challenger Hellcat that we were expecting.

Charger widebodies get all new front and rear fascias with integrated fender flares adding 3.5 inches of width to the wheel wells to allow the use of 20 by 11-inch wheels wrapped in 305/35/ZR20 Pirelli tires. Widebody cars also get the Brembo six-piston front calipers, with two-piece rotors and unique suspension tuning with the Bilstein three-mode adjustable dampers.

For the 2020 Charger Scat Pack, the widebody package will be optional and helps the Scat Pack Charger run to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds while covering the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds. Around a road course, the Charger Scat Pack widebody is 1.3 seconds or eight car lengths faster than a standard charger scat pack on the same 2.1-mile road course. Scat Pack widebodies will pull .98 gs on the skidpad besting the hellcat widebody making it the quickest and best handling charger scat pack ever produced.

Still powered by the 392 cubic inch V8 developing 485 horsepower and 475 lb-feet of torque the Scat pack widebody gets similar suspension changes to the SRT hellcat widebody. Scat Pack widebodies get a larger rear sway bar, 27 percent stiffer front springs, and a revised damper calibration to match the suspension changes. As with the Charger SRT Hellcat widebody braking distance is down to 107 feet from 60 miles per hour which are 3 feet shorter than a standard narrow body scat pack.

Other Mopar news is new colors for 2020 are Frostbite, Hellraisin, and sinamon stick. Frostbite was shown at the 2020 Charger Widebody reveal as the color on the SRT HELLCAT.
