Artist Rose B. Simpson joins Jeffrey De Blois, Associate Curator and Publications Manager, to discuss the ceramic figurative sculptures on view in Rose B. Simpson: Legacies. Hear directly from the artist about her creative process and thematic interests in this free public program.

Rose B. Simpson has a BFA from the Institute of American Indian Art, an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and an MA in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. She has had recent solo exhibitions at the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, the Nevada Art Museum, SCAD Museum of Art, and Pomona College Museum of Art. In the past year, her work has been included in numerous group exhibitions including at MASS MoCA, the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, as well as The Bronx Museum of Arts. In June 2022, she debuted her first large-scale public work, titled Counterculture, at Field Farm in Williamstown, MA (commissioned by The Trustees of the Reservation). Her sculptures are in many museum collections, including the collections of the Denver Art Museum, ICA Boston, Guggenheim, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Princeton University Art Museum, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Simpson lives and works on her ancestral homelands of Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico.
