UTHealth celebrates James H. “Red” Duke, Jr., M.D. (1928-2015), for his extraordinary achievements in medical education and patient care. As one of UTHealth’s first Medical School faculty members, Duke trained thousands of medical students and residents and pioneered the Life Flight helicopter program at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The James H. “Red” Duke, Jr., M.D. Endowed Scholarship was established as a way to honor Duke and help the next generation of physicians dedicated to excellence in patient care. It is the first full-ride scholarship for medical students at UTHealth. To learn more, visit http://www.uth.edu/drredduke.

In the heart of the Texas Medical Center and across the state, UTHealth Houston is boldly committed to solving the greatest health challenges of our time through education, research, innovation, and excellence in patient care.
