Documenting my memory and experience while preparing to replace the aortic valve and aorta and have two CABGs.
I was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve, which is a congenital heart condition in which the aortic valve has only two cusps (flaps) instead of the normal three. This condition is one of the most common congenital heart defects, occurring in about 1-2% of the population.
Over time, the valve does not close properly, allowing blood to flow back into the heart's left ventricle instead of flowing into the aorta.

Other problems were aortic stenosis, bicuspid aortic valve, aortic aneurysm, valve calcification, and severe regurgitation.
