“What would you pay for listening to a bird song in the morning or for going for a walk with your children through the forest?”, ecologist Auguste von Bayern asks at the beginning of this DLD24 panel discussion about biodiversity and the value we put on nature.

Experts estimate $700 billion are needed annually for conservation but only $20 billion are currently invested. Up to 1 million species are threatened with extinction, and the planet is experiencing its sixth mass extinction event caused by human activity.

Watch the video to get further insights about the challenge, and ways to solve it. The sessions brings together:

Tim Coles, CEO of rePlanet, an organization that is funding the restoration of ecosystems around the world using carbon and biodiversity credit income.
Christof Schenck, Frankfurt Zoological Society, Executive Director of the Frankfurt Zoological Society and Managing Director of the Frankfurt Conservation Center.
Martin Stuchtey, Founder of The Landbanking Group, which uses systems-thinking to stop and reverse nature loss.
Thomas Becker, Vice President Sustainability and Mobility Strategy of BMW Group.
The session is moderated by Auguste von Bayern, BIOTOPIA.
