ray alvarez (actually asghar ghahraman) tells the story of how he jumped from an iranian naval ship to swim to the land of liberty. his crazy journey took a detour through, virginia, flordia, jail, a greyhound bus, and finally nyc where he's been running a candy shop on avenue A. for the last 40 years. ray's candy shop is one of the few surviving landmarks of the good ol' days, and mr. ray is the nicest guy you'll meet in the east village.
i shot this with a couple 5d iii's and used magic lantern to shoot some of the b-roll in raw. the place is tiny so i went with the 16-35mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.2 for almost everything.
