Shirley Jackson (1916-1965) was a master of twentieth-century American Gothic literature. Her novels and short stories are still widely read, studied, and adapted. If you’ve read Jackson, you’re probably familiar with her chilling 1948 short story, ‘The Lottery’. But is it the most unsettling story Jackson ever wrote?
