Here's a complete DIY concrete video for the do-it-yourselfer. This is how a homeowner would be able to pour their own concrete slab driveway or add on to an existing driveway. This is not necessarily how a professional crew would do it but using tools and techniques of the average homeowner. Pop some corn and sit back and enjoy the entire video then come back and watch each chapter as needed.

00:01 Prep the location by removing existing soil or excess materials preferably with a FEL or Skid-steer
00:44 Establish rough grade and begin setting form boards - remove toads
02:09 Finish grade the area by hand or machine
05:31 Set up the stake and pipe system to assist screeding and ensure a flat slab
08:40 Fine tune the exact depth of pour by using 2x4 "rake"
12:46 Install remaining form boards & stakes and backfill with material
13:41 Compact area using plate compactor to ensure firm compacted compaction
14:27 Layout the re-bar grid and tie it all-together. Elevate with rubble or saddles
15:28 I hear the cement truck coming, better be ready!
16:30 If the chute can't reach, you may have to pull it. Come-along little doggie.
17:52 The young bucks push and pull the concrete while the old guys screed or screet. Depends on if you wear Tweed or Tweet.
24:32 When the first section is screeded be sure to pull the pipe down to the next section. Then perform the messy job of filling the void left by the pipe.
25:05 Bullfloat that section once right away. It helps to have Tom here to do this job but he couldn't make it today.
26:49 Continue the process down to the end of the slab
37:33 Have another little slab formed up for the little bit extra you'll have. I made a little pad under the hose bib on the other side of the house.
39:17 Run the edger around before it sets up too much.
41:06 Use a large trowel called a "Fresno" to finish the slab nice and smooth and work out any imperfections.
45:30 On outdoor slabs I like do a "broom finish". Keeps it from being slippery and hides most imperfections you've missed.
49:40 The day after! Remove form boards and score the slab with relief cuts. I use a concrete blade in a circular saw.
51:26 Torture your cat, dog, kid, etc. by imprinting their little paw into the still wet cement.
