The 996-generation of Porsche 911 is enjoying something of a renaissance in popularity at present – and about time too! The good news is there are thousands of examples to choose from, but many at the lower end of values have very high mileage. So is this necessarily a bad thing? Does a high-mileage 996 represent a perilous ownership experience, or is it not likely to be as bad as you think?

I asked these very questions to Chris at Wrightune, the Oxfordshire-based Porsche specialists who I personally trust to work on my own 996, the odometer of which has just ticked over into six figures.
