The Riverside Walk at Zion National Park in Utah is a nice easy hike that offers some amazing views of Zion Canyon and the North Fork of the Virgin River. The Riverside Walk begins at the end of the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive at the Temple of Sinawava. The Riverside Walk is an easy out and back 2 mile trail with an elevation gain of about 55 feet. Allow 2 hours on the trail to give yourself plenty of time to take pictures, explore some of the side trails to the river or just relax and soak up the amazing views.

As you start the hike, you walk alongside the river and through the trees. Make sure that you look up so that you can see the sheer size of Zion Canyon and the walls that surround you. As you walk further into the canyon, you will notice the hanging gardens of ferns, trees and moss that have taken root on the side of the canyon walls. The plants are fed by the weeping walls of the canyon.

The canyon continues to get narrower and narrower, at which point the Riverside Walk trail ends and the famous Zion Narrows begin. There are no riverbanks in this section of the canyon, it is just the river and the canyon walls that go straight up on either side. If you want to hike the Narrows, make sure that you are prepared and have the proper equipment.
