In this video BMW How-To shows you that, when the ambient conditions are dry, launch control permits optimised acceleration on a road surface that offers plenty of grip.

BMW M3 Sedan:
Fuel comsumption (combined) in l/100 km: 10,1-10,0 (WLTP)
CO2 emissions (combined) in g/km: 230-228 (WLTP)

In order to use launch control in your BMW M model with the M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, the engine must be running and at operating temperature. The steering angle at the steering wheel must not be greater than 30°. Deactivate Dynamic Stability Control DSC. You can do so by holding the DSC button for around 4 seconds. Select sequential mode and the third Drivelogic driving program. Press the brake firmly with the left foot. Press the accelerator pedal beyond the resistance point, and hold. An optimum engine speed for pulling away is adjusted. On BMW M3 or BMW M4 vehicles with rear wheel drive, 2nd gear is selected automatically for optimal acceleration. A check control message “Preparing Launch Control” is issued. When it says “Launch Control active”, release your left foot off the brake pedal within 3 seconds to start. The vehicle accelerates. Upshifts are automatic as long as the flag symbol is displayed and the accelerator pedal is not released.
