Ahead of #RHSHamptonCourt 2023, award-winning exhibitors Harkness Roses let us in on some of their secrets, and shared their top tips to grow and care for roses in your garden:

1. Pick the right location in your garden or green space, to make sure your roses will have enough space to grow and have daily access to plenty of sunlight.
2. Prepare the ground for your roses. Do a good mulch in the spring using well-rotted manure or compost you made in your compost bin. Read our advice on how to go peat-free: https://www.rhs.org.uk/soil-composts-...
3. Prune your roses twice a year, in autumn and spring. Pruning heights will vary depending on the rose variety. Find out more in our pruning guide: https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/roses/p...
4. Keep your roses in good health. Pick disease-resistant varieties, keep your roses well watered and well fed, and allow them to get at least 4 hours of light every day.
5. Remember to deadhead your roses in summer to boost flowering!
