Picked up a laser particle counter (as one does) and machined a test chamber to see how common fabrics stack up against n95/r95/HEPA filters. Tl;dr: wear a mask/face covering, they are important. Based on my janky test setup and real studies, they really do help. Video is in three parts: machining, overview of the test setup and results.
