Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex but prevalent ovarian disorder amongst women in their reproductive years (between 18-40), affecting about 10-12% of women in this age group. It is a disorder that arises due to the presence of Leydig Cells in the ovarian tissues that are secreting excessive levels of testosterone, causing several complications. In healthy ovaries, there should not be any presence of Leydig cells.

PCOS affects how a woman’s ovaries normally work. Because of the hormonal imbalances, the ovaries release eggs irregularly and sometimes not at all. It may also cause the eggs to be underdeveloped, which further leads to a complication known as Corpus Luteum Insufficiency (low secretion Progesterone). This is when the corpus luteum in the ovaries does not develop and mature properly, causing an insufficiency in the crucial pregnancy hormone: Progesterone. The ovaries are also more prone to develop cysts over time and in addition to Progesterone Insufficiency, can cause recurrent early miscarriage and eventually immunological miscarriage.

Here at Antai Hospital, we provide the effective diagnosis and treatment method for Hyperemesis, to secure a healthy and full-term pregnancy.
