Idk, I'm really proud of this remix. I love Lacrimosa so much and I wanted to play with it. Apparently, Mozart wasn't able to finish the composition because he died and his student, Franz Xaver Süssmayer, completed it according to the notes and instructions left by Mozart. As usual for things in the past, there are always speculations of maybe it's not just one person who did all that. Maybe others were involved but given no credit. Maybe we'll never know? I'm just grateful and joyful that we get to experience this piece of amazing music.

For this chaotic remix, I put some hip hop beats, dance sounds, a little bit of drums like those in musical scores in movies and trailers, and a soft piano melody. In the middle of creating the remix, I looked into my folder of hand lettering designs that I have not posted yet on my Redbubble online shop to search for a cover art for this track. I saw this 'Nostalgia is a Bitch' design I made in 2022 and suddenly, the remix I was envisioning made sense. It aligned with the vibe, perception, learning, reflections, changes, regrets and decisions I made since 2012.

When we look back and assess the past, some of us tend to think of it as the good old days and romanticize all the negative things including trauma. Of course, some people actually had a lovely past and it's understandable to want to recreate and repeat them. But for some, we are more inclined to gaze into the yesteryears wearing broken lenses. This is not healthy and we should try to heal so that we see things for what they were. The vibe of this remix is that of masking the grotesque with whatever it is that people do in order to lie to themselves, while the obvious howling of misdeeds reverbs in the background all throughout.

In a contrasting approach, this remix can also be a celebration of resilience. Even if the lamenting of life wails in the backdrop, not only do some people persevere but they try to live in healthy ways. Take heed though about resilience. Changes still need to happen. Just because people can make do and humor their way in life, doesn't mean that accountability and help are not options.

Whether you vibe into one or both of these interpretations of the remix or make your own feels when you listen, the last few seconds of the track ushers you into a beating anthem of peace or a lullaby of defeat.
