Way back in 2000 -- eight years before Iron Man kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- the first X-Men film was released, beginning a nearly 20-year superhero franchise. They can't all be masterpieces, but there have been some great entries, including soft reboots, hilarious spinoffs, and an R-rated drama that brought new gravitas to the series.
